A seven-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court upheld the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, ruling 6:1 that Parliament's power to act as the Constituent Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir was temporary and that the President's proclamation under Article 356 in August 2019 was constitutionally valid. INS Vikrant, India's first indigenous aircraft carrier, completed its first overseas operational deployment — a 45-day mission in the Gulf of Aden as part of Operation Sankalp, India's anti-piracy and maritime security mission in the Western Indian Ocean. The Ministry of Rural Development announced that PMAY-Grameen has surpassed the completion of 3.5 crore houses since its launch in 2016, with 98.7% of sanctioned units completed. The President of India appointed Smt. Preeti Sudan, former Health Secretary, as Chairperson of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). UPSC is a constitutional body under Articles 315–323, conducting civil services examinations (CSE, CAPF, CDS, NDA). The Chairperson has a 6-year tenure or until age 65, whichever is earlier.
